They say that good things come to those that wait, and this adage is particularly true when it comes to the art of photography. Technique and camera choice are important, but simply taking the time to wait for the right moment to shoot is also vital in achieving that perfect photograph.

As we welcome in February, why not take some time out from your hectic lives, head off to your nearest beach, into the country or even in the city. Take two minutes to visualise what would make a great photograph. Capturing the perfect moment with your camera often takes a huge amount of patience, but the results are usually worth it.

From the world to your backyard, from professional photographers to amateurs, you may be pleasantly surprised to see what taking two minutes for yourself can do, whoever and wherever you are.

If you’ve taken some shots lately that have required a lot of patience, why not upload them to our Flickr page, post the link in our Comments section below and tell us the story behind them.

What’s the longest you’ve waited to take the perfect shot?

The time it took for this pic to come to life is between 2 and 4 hours, but it was worth every moment of waiting :)
