Nikon introduces the world’s fastest, smallest, lightest interchangeable lens cameras1

We’re delighted to introduce a revolutionary digital camera system – Nikon 1! Nikon 1 is our next generation range, which pioneers amazing photography features and ground-breaking new shooting modes that mean you never miss a moment again.

With two new cameras at launch, and a revolutionary new lens mount, this is Nikon’s most significant announcement since we introduced our first digital camera 14 years ago!

Starting with the Nikon 1 V1 and the Nikon 1 J1, the Nikon 1 range sets a new benchmark for speed, precision, innovation, and portability. Offering the world’s fastest autofocus2 system and continuous shot3, as well as innovative shooting modes, uniquely compact 1 NIKKOR lenses and Nikon 1 accessories, the Nikon 1 V1 and the Nikon 1 J1 redefine what a portable digital camera system can do.

These next generation models showcase amazing photography features such as pre-post capture technology, ground-breaking automatic shooting modes, a CX-format CMOS image sensor, Motion Snapshot (MSS), Smart Photo Selector (SPS), Still image mode, Movie mode and much more.

1. Nikon 1 J1 is the world’s smallest camera among competing interchangeable lens digital cameras equipped with image sensors larger than 1 inch.  As of August 5, 2011.

Nikon 1 V1 is the world’s smallest and lightest camera among competing interchangeable lens digital cameras with an integral EVF.  As of August 5, 2011.

2. The world’s shortest shooting time lag (as determined by Nikon performance tests). Measured when using the single-point AF mode and the shortest focal length of a standard zoom lens (1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f 3.5-5.6). As of August 5, 2011.

3. World’s fastest continuous shooting: max. 10 fps in subject tracking AF mode (when the aperture value is f/5.6 or smaller with the shutter speed 1/60 or faster) and max. 60 fps in full high definition, fixed-focus mode. As of September 5, 2011. According to NIKON measuring system.
