I AM NIKON Blog

Link your friends to your photos and Motion Snapshots with Facebook

We’ve updated my Picturetown, Nikon’s image sharing and storage service with a whole host of new functions to give you more options when storing and sharing your digital images. The latest version allows you greater collaboration with Facebook and also includes the ability to play back Motion Snapshot files too.

Facebook updates include posting links to shared albums directly to Facebook, using your list of Facebook friends to send links to shared albums and posting or playing Motion Snapshot files from your Facebook account. In addition, we’ve added new functions for Gold Account members, including one that allows you to password protect your shared albums. You can take a closer look at each feature below.

Post links to shared albums on Facebook and post photos to Twitter

You can now quickly and easily share albums containing a large number of photos with your Facebook friends without uploading directly to Facebook. Links to shared albums can also be posted to Twitter or sent via e-mail too.

Post to and play Motion Snapshot files

You can post links to album pages for Motion Snapshot files recorded with Nikon 1 cameras to Facebook. When friends click on the link, they are transferred to the album page where they can play your Motion Snapshot files in an instant.

Motion Snapshot is a new feature built into our latest advanced cameras with interchangeable lens, the Nikon 1 J1 and V1, which enables you to capture seconds of emotive video in slow motion.

Use your list of Facebook friends to send links to shared albums

When sharing my Picturetown albums, you can use your list of Facebook friends to select recipients. A link to this shared album will then appear on their wall.

More functions for Gold Account members

If you’re a Gold member you can now protect albums shared via Facebook or email with a password. You can also now set permissions for downloading photos from shared albums, as well as permissions for downloading photos at their original size.

You can also post from my Picturetown Pad

If you have my Picturetown Pad, a free app for the iPad and iPhone, you can send your photos to Facebook and Twitter or send a sharing email to your friends anytime and anywhere. my Picturetown Pad also supports the internal camera on your iPad and iPhone, so your photos can be saved and shared right then and there.
