You may remember that a few weeks ago, we told you about our participation in a special auction of rare cameras and lenses run by our friends at WestLicht Auctions. We were lucky enough to be able to contribute a selection of rare Nikon kit to the auction – with any money raised to be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.
Well, the hammer fell repeatedly, and our rare items were sold to the highest lucky bidders… One very rare lens, the Reflex-NIKKOR 2000mm f/11, which was estimated to go for between €18,000 and €20,000 eventually sold for €66,000!
We’re still waiting for final figures, but it looks like we raised in excess of €90,000. Thanks to all the bidders and everybody at WestLicht Auctions. We’ll let you know the total raised for the Japanese relief effort as soon as we can.
In the meantime, if you get a buzz from the action on an auction house floor, you can read about some of the dramatic results on the WestLicht Auction site!
