What a shot! – Georgios Kefalas with our Nikon D3

A great photograph captures a perfect moment in time, and what moment could be more perfect for a professional footballer than scoring in a major tournament in front of a packed stadium? Professional photographer Georgios Kefalas recently captured exactly that with his Nikon D3. And with the knockout phase of the Champions League finally upon us after the winter break, we thought it was timely to share these awesome images.

Georgios, who thrives on capturing the tension, passion and emotion of football matches said, “In the world of sport, in addition to athletic performance, emotion also plays a role. Joy and sorrow often lie closely together. The fascination lies in capturing such moments”.

We hope you like Georgios’ favourite images of FC Basel player Carlitos performing acrobatics after his goal against FC Lucern. After netting his first goal for a few months, midfielder Carlitos slotted one into the back of the net, and his relief and joy was captured perfectly by Georgios who said:

“You capture this moment, or it will be gone forever… a ton of weight fell off his shoulders.  He expressed his joy with a somersault.”

If you like what you see and want more of these dazzling pics, check out the Swiss photographer’s site here, which is packed with cool sporty snaps.

Who do you think will win this year’s European Championships?  Have you captured any classic sporting moments on your Nikon? Do let us know.

I have bought new D7000, this is my first Nikon since long with Canon fun. I use Canon EOS1D mark 2 N and Canon 40D with L lenses, I found D7000 is far much better then my canon also lens I use 17-55 F2.8 a brilliant lens then my 24-105 L. I think D7000 should be line with professional level.
